Data Sharing in the Public Sector

This guidance, on ‘Data Sharing in the Public Sector’, aims to highlight the fundamental rules and protections of data protection law which must be taken into account in the context of all instances where individuals’ personal data are shared in a public sector context. The DPC supports the aim of developing more efficient and customer-centric public services, and this guidance is intended to clarify the principles and obligations which public sector bodies need to comply with in order to process personal data in the delivery of public services in a way which is lawful, fair, and transparent.
