Data Protection Commission

"The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner today welcomed the outcome of prosecution proceedings which concluded at the Virginia District Court, Co. Cavan and which were taken by the Office against Coopers Marquees Limited.

Coopers Marquees Limited pleaded guilty to one charge of sending an unsolicited marketing email in July 2015 to an individual who had previously complained, in January 2014, of an unsolicited marketing email from the same company. The company had been investigated following the original complaint and issued with a formal warning. In Court today, the company was requested to make a charitable donation of €300 to Mullagh Scout Troop and to make a contribution towards to the prosecution costs incurred by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner."
