While the Acts may continue to apply in some circumstances, as of 25th May, 2018 the GDPR is the primary piece of legislation governing data protection.

Minister Shatter invites submissions on recent EU proposals to strengthen data protection safeguards

The Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Mr Alan Shatter, T.D., today launched a consultation process on the European Commission's proposal for a new Regulation on data protection standards within the EU.
