Personal Data Protection Competency Framework for School Students

At the 2016 meeting the International Conference of Privacy and Data Protection Commissioners agreed a 'Personal Data Protection Competency Framework for School Students', which is designed to aid educators and empower school students in the digital environment.  The knowledge and awareness to navigate the digital environment with confidence, lucidity and respect for the rights of everyone is a fundamental skill and a key component of digital education is highlighting privacy and personal data protection. The purpose of this set of learning principles is to provide all students the knowledge, competencies and skills identified for the development of concrete and operational tools which are encapsulated in the competency framework on data protection. The Data Protection Commissioner was one of 28 data protection authorities that joined an International Working Group on Digital Education tasked with preparing the framework.
