Purpose: Mental Health Reform is the national coalition promoting improved mental health services and social inclusion of people with mental health difficulties. Mental Health Reform conducts consultations with people who use mental health services, family members and professionals, conducts desk and empirical research which can include focus groups, interviews and surveys. MHR also gathers individual stories that illustrate issues in the mental health system, for sharing with policy-makers and the media, with the permission of the individuals concerned. MHR also receives enquiries by telephone and online from individuals who would like information about mental health and related services. MHR communicates regularly with contacts from our member organisations and individual supporters, including sending regular e-newsletters. MHR seeks donations from our individual supporters via a fundraising e-newsletter and conducts occasional direct mail fundraising.

Personal data collected for research purposes would typically include the name, email address and/or postal address of the research participant. Personal data maintained for human resource records includes the name, address, date of birth, curriculum vitae, rate of pay, pension arrangements, performance reports and disciplinary procedures, etc. MHR maintains personal data in relation to people who contact the organisation for information about mental health and related services, in order to provide a good quality enquiries service. Personal data maintained for enquiries can include the enquirer's name, email address, telephone number, health status, experience of mental health services and nature of their concern. Mental Health Reform maintains a contacts database of individuals who wish to receive newsletters and updates about Mental Health Reform's advocacy work. Personal data maintained for the purpose of newsletter contacts includes the name and email and/or postal address of the individual. Mental Health Reform maintains contacts lists and correspondence for the purposes of fundraising. Description of Personal data 6: Personal data maintained for the purpose of fundraising includes the name, telephone number, email and postal address of the individual contact. Mental Health Reform maintains contacts for the organisation's advisory committees. Personal data maintained for the purpose of MHR's advisory committees includes name, telephone number, email and postal address of the individual. Date of birth is also retained for members of Mental Health Reform's Board of Directors.
Disclosees: Human resource information, including payroll information. May be disclosed to employers seeking a reference for an employee of Mental Health Reform. Personal data related to payroll of Mental Health Reform's employees is also disclosed to MHR's contracted bookkeeping service, auditors and may be disclosed to funders. Enquirers information may be disclosed to a third party where there is a concern about the individual's or a related person's safety in accordance with Mental Health Reform's policies on enquiries and on safeguarding vulnerable adults. Personal data could be disclosed to the Gardai.
