Mindspace Mayo is a community based initiative funded by the HSE, which collaborates with a variety of services (community, voluntary, statutory and education) to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of young people in County Mayo. Mindspace Mayo's office is based on Market Square in Castlebar. From this centre, Mindspace Staff provides assessment and brief intervention mental health services to young people in aged between 15 and 25 years.

Staff working on site will input all data in relation to the clients' personal information. This information is stored on our client management system which is known as 'ECASS' which is managed by…Enclude. Information is shared with other services, with the explicit consent of the young person / guardian (if under eighteen), unless there is a concern that a person is at immediate risk or a crime has been committed, in which case information will be shared with Social Work or Garda Síochana in order to protect the safety of the person at risk. |

The records that are stored in ECASS is physically stored in the USA, but covered by the European Safe Harbour agreement, so that for the purposes of data protection they are covered under the European data protection laws. The relevant directives are: • Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 October 1995 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (EU Data Protection Directive) • Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July 2002 concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications (EU E-Privacy Directive) |
