I work as a consultant General surgeon with a specialist interest in colorectal surgery. I work in the HSE-funded hospital but will also see some private patients on the Tallaght site using medical notes which may be stored on campus or in electronic form. I also work on the St james'' Hospital campus as part of my HSE contract. In this post I will see patients in private rooms create electronic files. I may use a commercial dictating company to facilitate speedy dictation (Digidox). These will be securely returned to me to my hospital computer
