EMIS Care is a provider of Diabetic Eye Screening Services to the HSE National Screening Service. Our services include the management of a database of people with diabetes consenting to participate in this service. The list is provided by the HSE. Once patients have consented they are invited annually to attend for retinal photography to assess the retina for any damage related to diabetes. The images are graded by trained and suitably qualified personnel. Outcomes include referral to a hospital eye department for anyone who has eye disease that may be sight threatening or placed into annual recall for those with no retinopathy or background retinopathy. | Description: |
EMIS Care only receive data that patients have consented to share and for the sole purpose of inviting these patients to attend screening. Data is held on secure servers and moved over secure internet connections when needed. Data collected includes full name, DOB, address, contact details (e.g. telephone, email), a unique identifier, GP details and information relating to the type of diabetes. The application used to manage the process i called OptoMize by EMIS Health. |

Data is only disclosed to personnel working within the service who have signed NDAs or contracts that forbid them from using or sharing the data with any other party. Results are shared wit the patients nominated GP and if a patient requires referral patients are aware they will be referred to their local hospital eye department |
