Description: Biobank Information Management System: The BIMS consists of a central Biobank data repository for the perpetual storage of clinical, pathology, sample information and analytical research data from consenting patients diagnosed as having prostate cancer. No personal identifiable data will be stored in the central BIMS system The purpose of the BIMS is to facilitate research into prostate cancer. Data are held in the BIMS for each patient in relation to some or all of the following categories: - Patient Information (formerly patient description) - Pre-op/Biopsy (formerly biopsy) - Radical prostatectomy- Biochemistry * pre-operational PSA * post operational PSA - Patient outcome * treatment options * outcome- Sample collection (blood) * plasma * serum * DNA * RNA - Sample collection (tissue) * fresh RNA later- Sample collection (urine) - BPH - Images of scanned pathological sections held as full sections or cores and subsequent image analysis data derived from pathological images - Omic data generated from transcriptomic, proteomic and epigenetic discovery platforms and data derived from analyses thereof. No further personal data are held in relation to the development and maintenance of the BIMS for the PCRC of Molecular Medicine Ireland (formerly the Dublin Molecular Medicine Centre).
Disclosees: Biobank Information Management System: Data held in the BIMS are made available to the hospitals and research institutes participating in the Prostate Cancer Research Consortium. Anonymised DNA, RNA, protein and medical data may be shared with academic or biotechnology research groups within or outside the consortium, in Ireland or abroad.
