Approval of Intel Corporation Binding Corporate Rules:
The Irish Data Protection Commissioner today approved Intel Corporation’s Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs). This follows an intense analysis of Intel Corporation’s application for approval over the past year in conjunction with other EU Data Protection Authorities. The approval process was led by the Office due to the location of Intel’s European Manufacturing Centre in Ireland which is Intel Corporation’s biggest single location in Europe. The Commissioner welcomes the commitment of Intel Corporation to data protection principles which the granting of this approval demonstrates. The Commissioner has consistently supported making the BCR application and approval process as efficient as possible to make them workable for business. The Commissioner believes BCRs are a valuable tool for corporations that recognise the corporate benefit in striving to embed privacy principles into their business practices on a daily basis and to comply with EU data protection requirements. The Commissioner also welcomes the positive engagement from Intel Corporation throughout the approval process and looks forward to continuing to work with them.
