The 28th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners took place in London from 2-3 November. This significant gathering of data protection regulators and leading commercial entities was primarily focused on the subject of "The Surveillance Society" and the necessary debate on the social consequences of such surveillance and consequently where it should begin and end. A comprehensive report on this issue commissioned by the UK Information Commissioner for the conference is available at http://www.privacyconference2006.co.uk.
